Hellooo Stitchers!
You guys probably didn’t even miss me did you? Well it has been a long time since the last
newsletter. If you want to see what’s
new in the shop, here’s the link (you might have to refresh the page):
http://alwaysinstitches.com/whats_new.cfm .
This Saturday, October 6, Always in Stitches will be
celebrating Fall (such as it is in south Florida). Because so many of you ask about punchneedle,
Karen Colwell will be demonstrating just how easy it really is. Two other hot needlecrafts right now are rug
punch & felting. Well come & see
how it’s done. Ann Dawe will be working on
a felted pumpkin & Donna McMullen will be working on a punched rug. By the way, Ann & Donna have been
creating the fabulous displays you see when you visit the shop. They are amazing! And I’ll be showing how easy French &
colonial knots are on one of Teresa Layman’s adorable designs. Cider & donut holes & a small
thank-you gift with your purchase.
Something for Stitch Exchange members too. Demonstrations will be going on throughout
the day so please come. Saturday, 10-5
& of course cross stitch demonstrations too!
As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness
month. Brenda Norfleet & Linda
Zadeh, two of my favorite customers (& sisters) are participating in a
60-mile Breast Cancer Walk in Tampa Bay on October 19-21. Yes, SIXTY miles! They’ve been training for months & are
taking donations for Breast Cancer Awareness.
You can make a donation by going to the website
www.the3day.org .
Click on the Donation tab, then click on Tampa Bay on the
left side of the page. On that page
there is a box for you to enter the walker’s name, either Brenda Norfleet or
Linda Zadeh. I just made a donation
& Linda needs a lot of help with her donations! We all know someone who has been affected
by breast cancer. As an extra incentive,
bring your donation receipt to the shop on Saturday, October 27 & receive
50% off one in-store product of your choice.
Which brings me to my next bit of news. Two other events are happening on October
27. First our Sampler Guild is meeting
around 2-ish. Everyone is invited. We have a little program, a little “show
& tell” & a little stitch & b*#@h!
The second thing happening on October 27 is the Think Pink Sale. Everything in the store will be 15% off. Such a deal!
October is just a happening month this year. The Online Needlework Show is scheduled for
October 17-21. It starts at 2:00pm on
Wednesday, October 17 & closes late on Monday, October 22. For those of you who don’t know, this is an
online “trade show” where designers have “booths” for shops to browse &
make purchases. What’s unique is that
you stitchers can also visit & browse the booths at
www.needleworkshow.com .
If you see something you have to have (need has nothing to
do with it), place an order with your favorite shop, Always in Stitches. I even have a wish list for you to use while
you are browsing. It’s a lot of fun
& you get to see a lot of new designers.
Come by for your wish list ASAP.
And please feel free to browse on the shop computer during the show.
A couple more bits & pieces & then I’m done. The Holiday finishing deadline is earlier
this year, Saturday, November 17.
December 1 at the latest (but you’ll be pushing your luck then). Lastly, the Starz X 12 Block of the Month has
been pushed back to March 2008. Leslie Lehman, who is going to put the blocks into
a quilt, has a daughter getting married in December. I didn’t want to ask her to take time to work
on my quilt. You understand.
Okay, that’s it, Finis.
